Yep, you will get an email cnofirming your study unit has been cancelled. I cancelled FAC1601 last year about 2 weeks before exam and i got my email a few days after I cancelled it.

I see that registration closes only on Friday but does that mean we can cancel a study unit and not be charged for it?

I canceled a study unit on wednesday (10 July) and I am still waiting - no answer from UNISA. I canceled the module because I was mistaken about exam dates and the modules' exams were clashing. However, only once I canceled the module, I found out that if you wish to do the module you cancel in a semester ahead, then you can request for "semester exchange" (see under edit registration). If you chose the option "semester exchange" then you won't forfeit any money as the minimum fee you have paid goes towards the module you "exchanged". BUT if you have paid and then cancel a module then you lose the minimum fee

In the first semester I cancelled 2 modules (I was told I would get credit for Intro to programming 1 and 2 I passed in '95) and took 2 modules in it's place and the money was used for the other modules. I certainly hope the same will happen this time around as I cancelled INF1520 on Friday and took INF1511 instead. I'm still waiting for confirmation so I'm hoping there isn't an issue with the money.

@ MidniteBellz
How do you know that you can't carry this semester subjects to the next year first semester?
You should be able to carry subject to next semester irrespective whether it falls in next year, otherwise they will tell us.

Some days I just HATE Unisa!!!

Exchange of modules can be done in one academic year. 2014 is another academic year, in this case you have to cancel the modules and register afresh in 2014.
NB: You will forfeit the minimum fee per module.
